The San Mateo Watershed is one of the wildest and most pristine sections of So Cal. A vast area of prime coastal foothill wilderness that transitions into the Cleveland National Forest.
This watershed is an area in miraculously good condition. Its size, its complex landforms, its diversity and its beauty make it a place of the highest priority for preservation.
The county of Orange has begun a slow but sure process of planning, if it can be called that, for development of this area located south of Ortega Highway.
